Staart af

Zoals ik ook al had verteld, heb ik de laatste week vooral aan Kimono Waterlily Mermaid gewerkt. Haar staart is nu af en ik moet van deze bladzijde nog 3 rijen. Het wordt al erg mooi, vind ik zelf. Ik ben ook bij dit borduurwerk gaan rasteren, omdat ik bij The Wizard of Oz merk hoe ontzettend gemakkelijk dat werkt.

Het is nu 1 mei, dus ik heb het volgende deeltje voor de afghan weer binnen en het eerste deel voor het borduurwerk met de kikkers. Dus eerst gaat Waterlily weer even ergens anders logeren, ik heb wat anders te doen!


As I already told, I stitched mainly on Kimono Waterlily Mermaid this week. Her tail is finished en this page has only 3 rows to go. It's becoming beautiful, I think. I gridded this piece as well, because I noticed with the Wizard of Oz how easy it works.

It's May 1st now, so I received the next block for the afghan already and the first part for the piece with the frogs. So Waterlily will stay somewhere else for a while, I have something else to stitch!

Afghan blok 15

Blok 15 is ook alweer klaar. Dit ging heel snel, want het is alleen maar een vogeltje. Ik heb er vier avonden aan geborduurd en overdag borduurde ik aan Kimono Waterlily. Ja ja, overdag borduren, want het is vakantie en Quintijn slaapt meestal toch wel een uur of twee. Dan ga ik lekker op de bank zitten, een leuke serie erbij die ik opgenomen heb en borduren!!! Waterlily schiet ook al behoorlijk op, ik zal er binnenkort ook weer even een foto van laten zien.

Ik ben nu op de helft van de afghan. Ik heb 15 blokken gedaan en er volgen nog 15 voor een totaal van 30 blokken. Maar qua borduurwerk zit ik nog niet op de helft, want de onderste helft is veel voller. Maar het borduurt erg prettig, dus het is erg leuk werk. Ik borduur aan deze afghan met de SAL-club van Jacqueline en nog steeds starten mensen aan het borduren aan deze afghan, hij is erg populair.
Ik zou in september ook beginnen met een andere afghan, de Rain forrest afghan, maar daarvoor heb ik toch maar afgezegd. Ik heb al erg veel te borduren en vanaf oktober zal ik weer minder tijd hebben. Er is namelijk weer een baby'tje onderweg! Ik had het op deze blog nog niet verteld, maar wij verwachten in begin oktober ons tweede kindje. Ik ben nu 17 weken zwanger. Vandaar ook dat ik me totaal niet schuldig voel als ik overdag even pauze neem om te borduren. Rust is goed! Borduren nog beter.

I finished stitching block 15. It wasn't a lot of work, for this is only a bird. I worked on this during four evenings and during the day I stitched on Kimono Waterlily. Yes yes, stitching during the day, because I have holidays and Quintijn often sleeps in the afternoon for an hour or two. Then I sit on the couch, watch some television and stitch! Waterlily is growing fast, soon I will show another photo of hers.

I have stitched half of the blocks of the afghan. I did 15 and there will follow another 15 for a total of 30 blocks. But I didn't do half of all the cross-stitches, because the bottom blocks are a lot more filled. But it's easy stitching, so it's fun to do. I work on the afghan in the SAL-club of Jacqueline and still people start stitching this afghan, it's very popular.
In September I would start another afghan, the Rain forrest Afghan, but I cancelled it. I have a lot to stitch already en from October on I won't have a lot of time to stitch. Because I'm pregnant again! I didn't mention on this blog yet, but we expect our second child in the beginning of October. I'm 17 weeks pregnant now. This is a reason why I don't feel guilty at all when I take a break during the day to stitch. Rest is good. Stitching even better!

De laatste tijd steeds aan The wizard of Oz gewerkt en het begint nu echt al wat te lijken. Je ziet de deur met een krul erin en een half raam en binnenkort komt er een mannetje in beeld dat een boek aan het lezen is.
Het is ontzettend leuk om te borduren, de kleuren zijn fantastisch en het is erg leuk om zoiets tot leven te zien komen.

Last days I worked a lot on The wizard of Oz and it's really going to be something. There is a door with a curl in it and half a window. Soon there will be a man with a book in the picture.
It's really fun to stitch. De colours are great and it's so nice to make a picture alive.

Afghan Blok 14

Met veel pauzes heb ik ook eindelijk dit blok van de afghan geborduurd. Dat ik niet in één keer door geborduurd heb, ligt niet aan de afghan, maar aan mijn verslaving aan mijn pas gestarte HAED. Het is zó leuk om dat te zien groeien! Maar de afghan blijft ook heel mooi, dus ik heb ook met veel plezier aan dit blok gewerkt. De tekst op het bordje heb ik met twee draadjes geborduurd i.p.v. met één, omdat de tekst zo veel beter leesbaar is.

Het volgende blok bestaat uit een vogeltje, dus dat moet ik ook in april nog wel kunnen borduren. Dan ben ik voor de volgende maand tenminste weer bij (want dat was een goed voornemen!)

With a lot of breaks I finally stitched this block of the afghan. I couldn't blame the afhan for the breaks, it's just my addiction for my recently started HAED. It's so much fun to watch it grow! But the afghan is still really beautiful, so I stitch this block with a lot of pleasure too. I stitched the text on the banner with two threads instead of one, because is text is better readable this way.

The next block is a little bird, so I should be able to finish it in April. Then I will be on track next month (and that was a good intention for 2009!)

Eerste foto van mijn herstart: Wizard of Oz

Dit is de eerste foto van mijn herstart van Wizard of Oz. Ik borduur nu met twee draadjes op 18 count aida en dat wordt heel erg veel mooier. Ik ben in precies de andere hoek begonnen, dus eigenlijk heb ik niet eens het gevoel dat ik aan hetzelfde werkje bezig ben. Dit is de eerste bladzijde en ik heb vier rijen geborduurd. Dat zijn zo'n 3200 steekjes, dus er is een begin. Je ziet het dak van het huisje links op het plaatje. Je ziet de schoorsteen en een begin van de raamomlijsting.
Het zijn erg veel verschillende kleuren, dus daardoor ook een hoop confetti-steekjes, maar ik vind het niet erg. Het is erg fijn dat ik weer met een blij gevoel met dit werk bezig ben.
Waarschijnlijk zie je de lichtblauwe lijnen op de stof. Voor het eerst heb ik de stof gerasterd, dus blokjes van 10x10 op de stof gemaakt, net zoals het patroon ook heeft. Het geeft erg veel houvast tijdens het borduren en ik ben er erg blij mee. Ik heb een pen gebruikt met uitwasbare inkt en dan kost rasteren eigenlijk helemaal niet zoveel tijd.

Here's my first photo of the restart of Wizard of Oz. Now I stitch with 2 threads and it's becoming really beautiful. I started in the opposite site, so actually I don't realize that it's the same work again. This is the first page and I stitched four rows, so I'm quite satisfield. There are a lot of coulours, so a lot of confetti-stitches, but I don't mind. I'm glad to be happy during stitching. You might as well see the light blue lines on the fabric. For the first time I gridded my fabric. I used a pen with wasable ink, and gridding took only little time. But it is really working for me, I love it!

Opnieuw beginnen

O jee, ik heb een erg drastische beslissing gemaakt vannacht. Ik lag wakker (niet zozeer vanwege deze beslissing) en dacht na over The Wizard of Oz. Of ik het zo eigenlijk wel echt leuk vond. Mijn conclusie was dat dat niet zo was. Ik vind het toch niet leuk dat je de stof door het borduurwerk heen zien schijnen. Wendy (van een ander blog) is bezig met 'Land of enchantment', ook van Gustafson en zij borduurt het op 18 count met twee draadjes en het is veel mooier. Dus ik bedacht me dat het beter was om opnieuw te beginnen.
Ik heb geprobeerd om het werk uit te halen, maar daarvoor was het al te veel. Dus nu knip ik dat stuk gewoon van de stof en gebruik dat ooit wel voor een ander borduurwerk.
En vanochtend ben ik naar de winkel gegaan om een nieuw stuk 18 count aida te kopen en deze keer zal ik met twee draadjes borduren.
Natuurlijk is het jammer, maar ik had nog maar 1 bladzijde gedaan en er zouden er nog 20 volgen. Het is leuker om te borduren terwijl je echt tevreden bent over het borduurwerk, toch?

Ik begin nu in de andere hoek links bovenaan, andere kleuren en het voelt dan wat minder als helemaal opnieuw beginnen.


Oh my, I made a very drastic decission this nigth. I laid awake thinking about my Wizard of Oz and if I really liked it this way. My conclusion was that I didn't. I don't like the fact that the fabric is shimmering through the stitches... I like for instance 'Land of Enchantment' of Wendy, which is by Gustafson as well, far better, so I think I'd better start all over. I tried frogging my stitching, but it's too much.
So I will just cut of the piece and use the rest of the fabric for another project. And I went to the store and bought a new piece of 18 count aida and this time I will stitch it with two threads.
Of course it's a shame, but I had only done one page and there were 20 more to come. Better do them while I'm satisfield with the whole project, don't you agree?

I start in the opposite corner right now, working from page 1 and then down to page 8. Different colours and it won't feel that much like doing it all over again.

Oz weer

Ik ben weer verder aan het werken aan "The Wizard of Oz" en ik begin er lol in te krijgen. Er is nu ook al wat meer in te zien. Je ziet een heksje achter de boom en ook de boomstam staat er gedeeltelijk op, je ziet ook de glimlach van de boom en het begin van zijn neus.
Ik heb er voor gekozen om met 1 draadje op 18 count aida te borduren en dit geeft een lichte bedekking. Het is mooier dan het op de foto lijkt, moet ik zeggen, het geeft een heel teer effect. 2 draadjes op 18 count vind ik erg propperig en ook niet fijn borduren, dus vandaar mijn keuze.

I started on 'The Wizard of Oz' again and I'm going to like it. There's already something more to see. There's a little witch behind the tree and the tree already has his smile and partly his nose.
I chose to work with one thread on 18 count aida, and it causes a light covering. It's better than it looks on the picture, I must say, it looks very fragile. I don't like stitching with 2 threads on 18 count, it's too tight, that's why I chose this.

Leap froggie is af!

Ik heb Leap froggie af! Ik was de laatste weken alleen al met haar bezig, want een werkje dat een einde in zicht heeft, is erg aantrekkelijk! En nu is het dus af! Gisteren de laatste steekjes gedaan, vanochtend even gestreken voor de foto en ik ga het vlak voor het inlijsten even een sopje geven en dan natuurlijk opnieuw strijken.

Mijn eerste HAED af. Ik ben erg trots op mezelf!

I finished Leap froggie! Last weeks I was still working on her, for a project that is close to an end is really nice to work on. Yesterday I did the last stitches and today I ironed it for the photo.

I finished my first HAED. I'm really proud!

Bloempje erbij

Ik had het veel te druk met borduren om ook nog eens met bloggen bezig te zijn, vandaar dat ik nu pas weer wat resultaat laat zien. Leap froggie gaat zo leuk, ik zal dit werkje dit jaar zeker afmaken!

Ik zet nu ook mijn vorderingen aan mijn HAED's op een speciale blog voor allemaal mensen over de hele wereld die aan deze patronen werken. Het is erg leuk om hun vorderingen te zien en het werkt erg motiverend. Vandaar dat ik de laatste anderhalve week ook vooral aan HAED's bezig ben geweest en daardoor vergeet ik soms een beetje dat de afghan er ook nog ligt.

Maar een ander goed voornemen van dit jaar was om met dat werkje bij te blijven, dus ik moet er zo meteen nog wel wat aan doen!

I was way too busy stitching to write a blog at the same time, that's why it took some time to show some results. Leap froggie is so much fun, I will certainly finish this project this year!

I show my progress on my HEAD's on a special blog for people all over the world who are working on these patterns. It's really nice to see their progresses and it's really motivating. That's the reason I worked on my HAED's the last few dags. Sometime I forget there's also the afghan I am working on. But my plan for this year was to keep on track with that project, so I have to work at it somehow this month!

Staartje

Waterlilly mermaid heeft een staartje. En het is zo ontzettend leuk borduren! Je moet verschrikkelijk vaak van kleur wisselen en toch is het borduren heel erg leuk om te doen. Het leuke van zo'n Quick Stitch is dat je ook wat sneller op je stof ziet verschijnen.

Waterlilly mermaid has a tail. And she is so fun to stitch on! You have to switch colours all the time, but still stitching is really fun. What I like about a Quick Stitch is that there quite soon a picture on the fabric.
